a little self reflection.
In hopes of keeping readers (if any) interested, ill start by saying Im stuck $200 this month now after being +1600. Long story short, I played a 4 hour session of 200NL HU and 100NL HU and I got completely shit on, worste beats of my life. HU has huge swings I understand and I fucking got the worste of it. Lost 1800 in one night, my biggest losing day by far. Im in the red for the month, and Im really demoralized.
Now... I know poker players go through this all the time, and I realized that I handle myself very poorly in times like this, which is probably why Im still playing 100NL. I did a little reflection on myself as a poker player and came to a few conclusions.
Pros:
-Im a great student of the game, and apply the concepts I see or read about very well to my own game.
-Im a huge winner in every limit Ive played, and my winrate should be probably 5-6BBs for 100NL.
-I have very good bankroll management, I dont play a limit without 40 BIs, with the exception of the occasional shot.
-I hardly ever tilt, and I usually can stop myself if I start playing/running bad.
-I have tremendous drive to become a good poker player, and eventually make good money.
Cons:
-Im very hard on myself when I have a losing day.
-I usually quit days/sessions early even if Im running really hot and should keep playing.
-I donk around to much when Im drunk or really high
-I spew chips way to much because Im fucking bored of 100NL its so standard and easy.
-I dont realize how much money Im really playing with or losing as its just numbers on the screen to me.
-For some reason I enter tournaments and then 30 mins in, decide I want to go out with my friends and just sit out. Ive probably lost 2k this year of wasted tournament entries.
-I dont stick to my well thought out plans that I make in the beginning of the month.
-I dont play enough AT ALL
Now this is just a list that I thought of as I typed this blog, so Im probably ,missing a few things. However, I think I nailed the jist of it, and after looking over those things, Im going to try and adjust my mental game.
From now on, I am going to fucking follow my goals for the month for THE WHOLE MONTH. Im not going to take anymore shots at 200NL until I have the BR I want to make the full move. Im stuck in the month about $200 now, and Im scrapping the idea (obv) of amking 5k, Im going to stick to all my other goals previously posted though and just see where the results take me.
Im starting to understand that I have no other source of money besides poker, therefore it is my job. I need to start taking that seriously and being smarter, I realize that 100NL is no fun anymore because its not even a challenge for me, but I have to make the grind so I can get the fuck out of there. So now, Im going to treat poker as a fucking job, Im going to start cashing out a certain % (will decide later) of my winnings every month, and then keeping hte rest in my online BR to continue to move up. Im going to start playing more, and Im going to tell my g/f and friends that poker is my fucking job, and dont think that I can just do anything at any time. Im going to dedicate time to sitting in my room and playing poker with no other distractions, as if I were in the workplace.
Again, as readers can probably tell, I ramble alot in my blogs, I dont edit them or try to put any structure to them. I treat this blog as a journal to benefit myself and allow me to do some reflection on myself. If ppl read and enjoy it, thats great... Id still do the blog if no one ever saw it however. Poker is my fucking job, and its the best job I could ever have as a college student. Over the last 200 hours Ive been making $40 an hour, not including rakeback, which is about $30 an hour when I 10 table. So Im making about 7x more than any other kid my age, and I work probably 1/7th as much. Life is great, poker is great and has been good to me. Im finally going to take it more serious, and treat it as an actual job.
I guess in a sense Im going to try and carry myself as a professional when Im studying/playing poker, so I guess Im a professional poker player.
End rant/reflection post. Time to go enjoy the rest of the day, and start my new job tomorrow morning.

Found my new bread and butter?
Ive played about 11k hands of 6max this month now, and Im fucking stuck $300... running so unbelievably bad its insane, and also I had a drunk night where I lost $500 open shoving pots 4 handed.... Im very unhappy with my results as far as 6max goes... but I possibly found my new forte..
Ive played about 2.5k hands of 100NL HU and Im +1200, running well but also playing extremely well looking back at my big HHs, I think Im going to continue trying to get unstuck at 6max but also play a ton of HU this month (maybe 10-15k hands)
I know HU is an extremely swingy game, but your winrate can be 2-3x larger than 6max if your efficient, especially at 100NL. Wish me luck with that, not quiet on track this month for poker goals, but Im still not worried. Everythings going well besides 6max results!

Heres to a new month (I'll drink to that)
Alright, some crazy shit been goin on in my life past 3 days... but September is finally here, and Im really optimistic for a HUGE month. I finished up August pretty strong and hope to keep the momentum going all through September. Not a good start I guess since I had some shit going on today that made me unable to play, but tomorrow Im gonna hit the grind real hard.
Im going out to get MC hammered tonight, but Im just going to put my September poker goals out there again. I'll leave out my life goals that was two posts ago... so here they are.
Poker Goals:
*Play 50k+ hands at strictly 100NL
*Play 10 tables on my desktop, and 6 on laptop/TV in bed
*Play a solid tag 17-19/14-17 game
*Make atleast 3 blog posts per week, including HHs and analysis
*Frequent and post at 2p2 and CR
*Make a 100NL video and post on CR Member Contributions
*Satty into atleast one Sunday Major or WCOOP event
*Study/learn PLO
*4 table 25PLO for atleast 5k hands this month
*Datamine whenever Im not on the computer, both 100NL and 100NL HU
*Play a few thousand hands of HU, 4 tabling
*Practice good game selection, especially for HU tables
Finally I dont want to post this as a goal really, but last night I made a prop bet with my roommate (knows nothing about poker) that I would make 5k+ this month. This includes rakeback and everything, we bet $10 and I gave him 5-1 odds... lol at me being drunk. Honestly though I dont think its impossible at all, and Im extremely competitive especially with my buddy... I never lose to him in anythign I cant let it happen! Here's to a great September. Drink up.

Month in Review
August was not a huge poker month for me, but I enjoyed myself outside of poker. 3 days ago me and my g/f broke up which has been very hard on me but I think Im gonna start playing again later today and I should be fine. September is going to be a big month for me.
Looking at my August stats I played 30k hands which was a lot for how many days I was actually playing. I ended +1900 on my desktop PT and -300 on my laptop. I only got about 6k hands in on my laptop and I dont know why but I generally dont play very well on it. I also had a sick -9 buy in swing one day playing on it.
So I made just over $1500 plus Im getting $600 in rakeback so a 2k month is great considering how much fun I had and how little I focused on poker.
Later today when I get my head clear, Im going to make a post for the new month and reitirate my goals that I hope to attain.
Time for some sub sandwiches, late

Late night thoughts, and a good day of poker.
Well today was a very busy day but I managed to get just over 2k hands in poker...and it was definitely a wild ride. I started off +300 immediately in like 300 hands, then all the sudden I ran into a bunch of sick beats and coolers. I lost two 2 outers in 50 hands... ended up being down 80 and I quit for a few hours.
Went back to the grind later at night and ended up playing about 1500 hand session and made 6 buy ins to make for a +$550 day. Feels good to have this day after yesterday where I couldnt win anything...
So now Im laying in bed with my wireless keyboard/mouse and wathing a CR video and typign this blog... and I realize that my life is pretty sweet for a 19 yr old college student... and I have pretty much everything I could ever want right now. I definitely consider myself very lucky to be making money playing a game. I had a few thoughts that I wanted to add to my September goals list...
Poker Goals: *Study/learn PLO
*4 table 25PLO for atleast 5k hands this month
*Datamine whenever Im not on the compute, both 100NL
and 100NL HU
*Play a few thousand hands of HU, 4 tabling
*Practice good game selection, especially for HU tables
Ive been wantting to learn PLO for awhile now and it seems everyone is starting to play it because theres a lot of money to be made. Also I have always done pretty well in HU and I want to play some more of it, I dont plan on playing more than 5k hands of HU or PLO however because Im really focused on my 50k hands of 6max.
Thats all I can think of for now, I have till August 31st to think and add ore goals, but I think thats gonna be about it. Bedtime, class in 6 hours!

Seriously back at it... Seriously...
Ok Ive been back in San Diego for a few days now and school just started the other day, Im excited for another year here living in a house with 3 of my best friends from high school... should be tons of great times. Im taking 19 units this semester of really hard classes, 3rd year spanish, calculus, critical thinking/writing, and econ... so I will have a ton of work ahead of me but Im looking forward to the challenge.
Ive played about 12k hands since getting back and have been up and down, but overall doing ok running at 4BB/100 and up just over $1,100. I hope to keep the momentum going into September which is going to be a HUGEEE month for me. I have a bunch of goals that I thought about all day today in class and at home... first I'm going to post my poker goals, and then just for myself Im gonna post some life goals. This is going to be an intense month and a lot of work if I plan to reach my goals, but I always look forward to a challenge.
Starting with Poker Goals:
*Play 50k+ hands at strictly 100NL
*Play 10 tables on my desktop, and 6 on laptop/TV in bed
*Play a solid tag 17-19/15-17 game
*Make atleast 3 blog posts per week, including HHs and analysis
*Frequent and post at 2p2 and CR
*Make a 100NL video and post on CR Member Contributions
*Satty into atleast one Sunday Major or WCOOP event
Thoughts on these goals... 50k hands should be no problem for me... and since I started 10 tabling my game went from a 18/15 to a 15/13... which is obvious but I want to loosen it back up. I absolutely want to be more involved with my blog and also the forums... even if nobody reads this... Ive wanted to make a video for awhile now, I dont know how great it would bebut I want to give it a shot. I used to satty into lots of Sunday Mills back when I was a SnG player and would do the double shootouts... I want to play atleast one major this month again just to have some fun.
Life Goals:
*Always make school work 1st priority.
*Spend less money
*Gym/Run 4x a week
*Read up on LA/NYTimes daily
*Read one leisure book
*Read 2 of my new investing books
*Eat healthier
*Get my adult league bball team going again
*Work on building my new computer
And now some thoughts on these goals... this summer I have been spending money like crazy... put about $2500 into my room... eating out a lot... going on vacations... I really need to mellow out now that Im back in school. I also stopped my routine of gym 5x a week this summer and I need to get back into that (also eating better). One thing I did do this summer was a lot of reading.. I read about 5 books, and I bought 3 investing books that I wanna read. Lastly me and my roommmate are both in the process of building our own CPUs, went out and got a sick case the other day... I want to have it finished by end of October
Oh and me and 6 guys from high school are all in San Diego and 5 of us were on the basketball team, Im getting us signed up for a very high caliber adult league that we are going to OWN.
Ok! Thats it, many more posts to come in September, for now I just want to finish August real strong and get some personal shit done.

Overdue Update..
Well I realize not many people check this but I kind of feel guilty because I commited myself to a group for July's low limit grinders group and felt like I was going to be a great help to all the guys... unfortunately I ended up enjoying my social life way to much and went on vacations for over half the month. I only logged 20k hands in (15k of those were in 3 days) and I made about $900. Really disappointing month pokerwise but Ive been enjoying the hell out of summer... so I guess its good for me.
Im moving back to San Diego mid August and school starts August 27th, I plan to get back into the grind full time then and log 40k+ hands a month like I used to. Summer was great and Im gonna enjoy these last few days... going to Lake Tahoe with my gf and 9 of my other friends on Monday-Thursday which will be a absolute blast. My girlfriend's dad bought 2 jetskis and is renting a boat/wakeboards for us.
Well I just wanted to make a quick post explaining myself. I see that the group I was in made awesome progress in July and are going to continue to sweat/talk to eachother which is great and Im really happy for them. I wish I would have had more time to contribute to developing some relationships with those guys as they are all great poker minds and would help my game tremendously.
Hope everyone has a good August and runs well in poker. Peace.

Low Limit Grinders
Hey guys, Ive been sifting through the threads on CR and checking out some of the blogs, everyone looks pretty determined to get involved in this. I think it is a great idea and will be very beneficial to all of us. Basically my plan is to PM a few guys who I think will be able to help me out and also I will be able to help them... so far Ive talked to DWarrior and DODGYKEN and it looks like we are going to get a group together with a few others. I think its necessary to limit groups to 6 people maximum because I know I will not be able to look at more than 6 blogs/post HHs and respond to posts on CR, and get playing time in everyday... that would just be to much.
Im still in the process of moving into my new house so it might take me another day or two to get going on this, but Im planning on having a great month. I have a lot of time to dedicate to poker as school just got out and Im not working, so hopefully I will run ok.
The whole moving process costed me a lot more than I expected, and also Im rewarding myself with a new LCD TV because my old TV is starting to fade... so I cashed out about 1200 but still have about 45-50 BIs for 100NL. So my plan is to continue grinding at 100NL for probably all of July, and just try to log a shitload of hands and let the results come.
I'll start posting HHs and more poker content either later tonight or tomorrow sometime. But I wanna wish all the LL grinders out there a good month and hopefully we can make some money!

100NL baby!
Well, I know its been awhile... these past 2 or 3 weeks have been pretty good to me. Since my last post I played about 10-12k hands of 50NL and got up to 30BI for 100NL, so I decided once more to take my shot. However, this time I scheduled a lesson with fruity where he would ghost me playing 100NL, well I ran sick and went +320 in 350 hands of 4 tables with him, so I paid for my lesson, another $270 in the bank.
I think it was critical for me to play with fruity and have him show me a few spots where I may have had some leaks, and also just for my confidence, I knew I could beat the game I was just gunshy and scared of the money.
I started playing 100NL strictly on May 28th, and since then Ive been doing pretty well... running at 4.3BB/100 over 15k hands, for a profit of $1,300. The thing Im happy about is I've had some sick variance in here, including two 400BB pots that I lost, one with nut flush AI on flop and guy turned boat, and the other was med set on a 468 board with two hearts, and the MFer pushed AI with Ah3h and didnt make a flush, but even worse a straight!
So even with a goood amount of variance thrown in their, Im still a 4BB+ winner so far and the money is significantly larger than what Im used to. My BR is starting to turn out pretty nice, once I get my rakeback on the 15th I'll be over 5k for my first time ever... woohooo!
Anyway, I'll stop tootin my own horn here and just say that my goals for June and the rest of summer pretty much is to play atleast 35k hands a month, and just play smart poker like I know how and let the results come. I don't have any huge urge to jump to 200NL right away, I think Im going to get my roll to atleast 7k before I take any shots there, and if it goes well then I'll obviously move up. I want to become more involved with the CR forums, watch a few more videos, and also update this blog more often. So look back for some posts soon to come!

Another update
Things are going good again, since my -600 downswing at 100NL, I have moved back to 50NL. I cashed out $500 to put me at $2500 and started pluggin away at the tables again. Im starting to play better compared to last week and also running a little better, Im +5 buy ins in 2 days and thats from only about 5k hands... so Im doing well.
One thing I've noticed is that since losing at 100NL I have been playing a bit more nitty. My stats for 23k hands were about 17.5/15 at 50NL, and since then after 8k hands Im running at 15.8/13.5. Im not really happy about this because I want to keep my VPIP around 18-20... I think the explanation for this is I've become a bit gunshy after losing all that money. Instead of playing my normal game, Ive tighten up quite a bit and have tried to stay out of marginal/high variance spots.
This is good for 50NL I think if you want to keep your variance down and make consistent money, however I know that Im a pretty high variance player in general. I tend to push a lot of draws, and take many aggressive lines in spots I think appropriate. Considering I ten table and get in about 40-50k hands a month these high variance type plays pay off for me in the long run much better I believe. Im going to try to get my VPIP back to around 18-20 in the next few days because I think that 18-20VPIP is optimal for all limits up to probably 2/4.
Also I just thought about this while reading over some of my old blog posts, I realized that for the most part I had no idea what I was doing when I first got in to cash games. I was honestly playing at about 13/8 and was clueless. Needless to say I was a winner stay, but not a huge winner. I started to read more on Cardrunners and decided I would try out some coaching lessons. I went with fruitypro because I knew he really cares about the CR community and generally loved to read his input on hands. He helped me open up my game and see many of my leaks in my game. Since the day of my first lesson I already noticed a huge improvement in my NL cash game.
...Anyways, my praise goes out to fruity and all other CR instructors, I plan to hook up with fruity to get another lesson once I move up to 100NL I believe.\
*Note: This blog was very lengthy and incoherent because its 2AM here and I cant goto sleep because my girlfriend is studying/reading in my bed and doesnt want to be distracted. Major bad beat, I need sleep!

WAYYY Overdue Update...
Well since my lost blog I moved all my money over to FTP and started playing 50NL with $1600, over 23k hands I ran at 7.22BB/100 and made $1750. I was rollin and making $45 an hour which was awesome (I was 8-10 tabling) so at about $3500 I decided to move up to 100NL.
Again... I can't beat that game for some god damn reason... Im stuck $600 after 4k hands and feel that I can't handle these swings yet. I ran pretty bad to start, but I also really misplayed a few hands and spewed off a couple buy ins...
So now Im at $2900 approximately... Im cashing out everything down to $2500 and going to play 50NL for the rest of May. I hope to play another 20-25k hands in this time and hope to continue running between 6-8BB/100 there. That will give me still a very nice profit for May and also with rakeback I will have a nice chunk of change at the end of the month.
This is the plan, I dont want to make any specific goals because I play bad apparantly whenever I do that... anyways wish me luck and I'll probably post a few times between now and then to report my success/failures.
FUCK 100NL, everyone on CR forums says that the game is no different from 50NL, which is very frustrating to hear since I crush 50NL but get kille din 100NL. It seems there are SOO many more regulars playing at 100NL, and none of my 3bet/cbets are getting respect. Im getting floated on every flop it seems... sigh. I think I won't take another shot till 4k+ this time, Im a ultra nit when it comes to my bankroll ever since I lost 2/3 of it playing under rolled.

Overdue Update...
Sorry about the lack of updates, I went home for a weekend again and didn't play any poker, and I didnt really play any for about 4 days. I moved $600 over to Full Tilt just to see how I liked the software, turns out I love it and think Im going to be moving all my money over there soon. UB is so annoying to run 6-8 tables with poker tracker and HUD running, it was really starting to get to me. Also I seem to tilt a lot easier on UB for some reason, so I hope this will be a good move for me. Im going to start playing a lot more and try to finish out April really strong, also I have a coaching session with fruitypro on CR Friday which Im excited about, hopefully he will be able to look over some of my stats and find some leaks in my game. Ive heard great things about him and everyone has said the money is well worth it.
Ok, Im at school right now and got class in 5 minutes, so thats all for now, look for some updates in the next 2-3 days.

April 17th Stats- Im awful
Basically same shit as yesterday but... 2x worse and I tilted off a buy in.
Sigh....

Im not going to put my bonuses anymore until end of month I'll add it all up. Wow... this is going horribly so far, I got so unlucky all day, I had the same guy stack me twice in 3 hands, first time I had top two vs his set, 2nd time I opened AK he calls, and BB 3 bets to $9, we both call. Flop A 6 4, BB checks, I check, guy leads $15 I think. He would definitely do this with nothing trying to steal the pot, BB and my check both seemed weak. So I push, and he has 44 for another set. Fuck set mining, it only works against me it seems.
Oh and so far today Im -$45 after 400 hands, woohoo. Fuck! I shouldn't be running this bad for this long, Im really convinced that UB is bad for me for two reasons. 1) seems like every goddamn table has 3-4 regular CR style players, 2) you get dealt so many hands so fast, it becomes easy to tilt and also I'm not given enough time to think. One more negative thing till I goto the gym, Im not playing anywhere near enough hands per day to reach my goals, this is mainly because Im playing like shit and running horrible that I just want to cut my losses for the day, not going to get 2k UB pts this week for $150, sigh.
Cliff Notes for those who dont want to read... FUCK, IM BAD AT POKER.

I had a ton of small coolers, and none of my c bets were getting respect, which lead me to double/triple barreling and that got me stacked twice. I was down about $190 but did a little damage control towards the end of the day. Overall not to upset, I'm coming out strong tomorrow!

Everything held up nicely and I was playing very well, overall great day, though I again didn't play enough hands, I need to pick a day this week and dedicate it strictly to poker.

April 14th Stats
Ouch... had a rough day, I only managed to get 1k hands in because I was getting sick beats and wasn't playing my A game, so I stopped myself, I don't want to force myself to play 1.6k hands a day if it means I'll just lose more money playing bad. If Im having a good day, I'll try to play more hands.
Starting BR: $1952.45
Hands Played: 1,049
Profits: -$130.40
Bonuses: $52.95 (from last 2 days)
Ending BR: $1875
Few hands from my sessions...
Tough spot, I 3 bet light here because quinlan was playing very aggro. Standard C bet on the flop and the slow call scared me, but the turn brought another club so I figured I was commited and had to continue.

I know Im a favorite here against this player 90% of the time. Usually I have him dominated but probably a coinflip, I need to get myself to stop making these marginally EV plays, I think I should start just trying to see some flops and then acting accordingly.

Heres a sick cooler, I really wanted to just call but I couldn't for some reason, probably should have, his bet really looks like the nuts.

Money moved to UB, ready to go tomorrow!
Alright well I've been antsy all week to get my money moved to UB and finally I got it all on there today! I put $500 on a few days ago, and I couldn't stand not playing so I played about 2k hands of 25NL... I did well and ran at 6.5BB/100 over 2k hands and made $65. Also I saw this guy who I knew was terrible sitting at a 50NL HU table, took his 100BB stack and that put me at $115 profits. So that was definitely a good start for me and Im happy about that. Anyway, finally today I got another $1,300 moved to UB putting my total at $1938.92.
I was originally planning to get around 2.5k on my account and start playing 50NL, but I know 2k (more or less) is plenty. So this means that tomorrow I start playing again full time. I will be playing 50NL and probably 6-8 tabling, I think I'll play a few thousand hands at 6 tables to start and get some confidence, then maybe move up to 8 tables and maximize my profits.
I have been messing around with the idea of a new poker goal a lot the past few days, and I want to do something that will not be to stressful, but also still challenge me. There's 18 days left in April and I approximate that I can easily play 1.5k-2k hands a day... so I could get 30k hands in this month still if I average 1,666 hands per day...which leads me to my new goal in April!
Goal for April:
-Play 30k+ hands of 50NL 6 max
-Run at 4.5BB/100+ (also equals $4.50/100, so $4.50x300= $1,350 profit)
*Note that all these numbers and calculations are very approximate, and will not be disappointed to fall short or go over slightly.
Bonuses:
Ok now the reason I moved to UB is for the rakeback and all the reload/point redeeming bonuses they offer. So just messing around with some numbers I came up with a close approximate of money I can make off bonuses in April.
-Signup Bonus: $500
-Two weeks of Redeeming points: $150x2= $300. (I will easily clear 2k UPs a week for atleast $150 a week)
-Rakeback: Avg of $40.5 per day; 40.5x18= $730 (However, take off 25% of $500 cause of the signup bonus. Meaning $730-$125=$605)
-Total Bonuses: $500+$300+$605= $1,405
Estimated Total Profit: $1,405+$1,350= (drum rolllllll.....DING $2,755)
Haha, so theres my goal for April, and please note that I do not have my hopes up for making $2,700 in 18 days, I know it seems almost impossible but really with all the bonuses it isn't all that unrealistic. It would be absolutely sick if I could acheive this and would definitely boost my confidence after my little run of tilt. Ok well its late here, Im going to get a good nights rest and hopefully get off to a good start tomorrow! Wish me luck, I will try my best to blog my daily stats and my progress towards my goal.
G'night peoples.

New blog, new goals.
I'm not sure how many people even looked at my blog before, but I guess I'll explain what happened real fast.
Basically I started this blog shortly after starting to play cash games, I put a month goal up on here and was doing very well until the last week where I blew up and had my first tilt marathon at cash games. I lost about 2k of a 3k bankroll and I really was careless. In my defense I have been a SitNGo/Tourny player for 2 years before cash games, and was not yet used to the variance you can experience at cash games. So I think what happened was a good lesson, and considering I plan on moving up through the limits, I'm glad it happened now for a small amount of money. It could have been much worse if I did not experience this kind of variance until 1/2 and lost 3-4x as much as I did.
Anyways, I've reloaded my account from some of my recent cash outs and am going to get a fresh start on my cash game! I will be starting with I think a 2.3k bankroll and probably put it all on a new UB account I made. I decided to move back to UB because I felt like I was being cheated at Stars because of the lack of bonuses and rakeback. My money should all be on UB in the next few days and then I will get started playing again, until then I'm going to really think about a good goal for me to try and acheive.
More updates to come!
